Experience
After working in finance for ten years, I was tasked with performing customer training. During my work as a trainer, I discovered a passion for teaching and decided to return to school for a teaching certification in math and science. I often find the students that I work with are interested in learning about the world around them in a manner that they can relate to. It is by creating a personal connection from the material being learned to the student and the world around them that learning becomes the most gratifying to me. I often see the student develop a passion for learning based on this style of teaching. After eighteen years of tutoring, I can still find new things to learn and teach about various subjects, which makes learning an ongoing process for myself as well as the student. My interests and favorite subjects to teach are always changing. In addition to teaching students about academic subjects, I enjoy providing them with additional learning strategies so they can be well-equipped to take on their studies. I strive to help my students to be confident and independent learners. I believe in providing a fun and exciting hands-on type of learning environment. Learning should be worthwhile and purposeful.
