A senior at Saint Louis University, I am slated to graduate in the spring of 2016 with a degree in Investigative Medical Sciences. I am preparing to go to medical school in the future. In college, I began volunteering my time as a tutor for an organization called UrbanFUTURE. The purpose of this program was to further educate children in low-income areas and prepare them for success on standardized tests that they had to take. I instructed students on a wide variety of topics, including math and reading. Once I gained valuable experience from UrbanFUTURE, I began privately tutoring elementary students in core subjects. I believe that the formation of a solid relationship between educator and pupil is essential to academic progress. I try to remain friendly, while still driving them to achieve what they may have believed to be impossible before. My faith in my students' abilities is high, and I encourage them to try their hardest without making them feel defeated. If learning produces feelings of stress and frustration, then the style of teaching is not effective. I have put in some time at the YMCA, refereeing sports games. When it comes to athletics, I enjoy soccer and basketball. I also like video games and cars.
